The textile industry represents a colossal source of pollution on the planet but J. Gomes helps to solve the problem by collecting textile waste from other factories and transforming it back into yarn! By giving them a new life, it promotes a circular industry, which is highly beneficial to the environment.

The process of transforming the yarn does not waste water and does not use any type of chemicals. This way, J. Gomes creates a 100% recycled natural fibre yarn, SERRA, composed of 60% wool and 40% cotton, in a comprehensive palette of 30 colours.

J. Gomes and its products are certified by the Global Recycle Standard - GRS - which ensures the chain of good social and environmental practices.

Antarctic is composed of a fusion of natural and synthetic fibres, 100% recycled through textile waste collected by J Gomes. This yarn is not subjected to any synthetic chemical and no dyeing. Each colour of the Antarctic is obtained through the colour of the waste that was previously separated by quality and colour .

Vegan

80% polyester, 20% cotton

Vegan yarn is composed of synthetic and natural fibres, made using 100% recycled polyester and cotton.

This yarn was developed with the intention of presenting a product that is notonly ecologically responsible, due to the process of reuse of materials from J Gomes, but also does not have any fibre of animal origin.

Cânhamo

44% wool, 28% polyester, 24% hemp, 4% silk

The use of hemp in textile production has many health benefits and is directly linked to the Slow Living philosophy.

It has a stable molecular structure reducing static electricity giving rise to anti-allergic, antimicrobial and antifungal products. It has been proven to inhibit the appearance of bacteria such as E. Coli and Candida Auris.

Hemp also has ultraviolet protection properties. It is a breathable and comfortable material, especially when mixed with other materials such as silk or wool.

Environmentally, the use of hemp is a very sustainable material. Its cultivation is responsible and contributes to biodiversity, it does not need synthetic herbicides and pesticides. When compared to others it uses 75% less water than cotton and 1 hectare of hemp produces the same amount of natural fibre as 4 hectares of eucalyptus fibre.

Zimbro

40% wool, 30% polyamide, 25% linen, 5% polyester

Zimbro yarn has linen in its composition, which gives it a variety of quality. It becomes a material with hygroscopicity and intumescent and results in a smoother surface, durable and breathable.

Cardo

100% wool

Cardo is a yarn made of 100% recycled wool, through the collection of textile waste by JGomes. The dyeing carried out on this yarn is responsible and certified by GRS.

Alpaca

65% wool, 35% alpaca

Alpaca yarn is composed of wool and alpaca. It exists in 15 colours obtained through 3 shades of alpaca yarn, obtained naturally, without dyeing.
