FIRE AT
JGOMES FACILITIES
On January 24th 2022, a fire broke out at JGomes' facilities, destroying most of the machines. The textile recycling and carding lines were completely dismantled.

The fire started in the shredding machine, commonly known as the shredder, located on the recycling line. Towards the end of the night shift, the situation became uncontrollable and our employees, after initially fighting the flames, had to escape from the site. It was a complex fight, as the JGomes facilities reached extreme temperatures due to the highly flammable textile materials that were stored.
This accident had a great impact on everyone who works at JGomes and there was some tension and fear about the future of JGomes. However, on February 3rd the long process of recovery began and we are still going through it.

The cleanup of the site began. Walls and roof structures were removed so that the cleaning machines could begin removing the charred materials and damaged machinery.

The machines that were not affected by the fire were cleaned up and covered to be protected from the building's recovery processes.
rebuild the structure and redo foundations
With a new canvas, the reconstruction of JGomes' two warehouses that were destroyed has begun.
